Gillyflower Golf Club.
THE CHALLENGE
Closed for the last 6 years, the Lostwithiel Golf Club is open once again. Sporting a brand new name and environmental mission, the Gillyflower Golf Course takes it’s title from a rare Cornish apple, just one of the many heritage breeds of fruits, nuts, and vegetables that are being grown across and around the golf course. Built on a dream to turn golf into a planet friendly pass time, the Gillyflower course features expanded areas of rough, left permanently uncut to provide a haven for wildlife, avenues of heritage trees and plants, and a potager garden which will in time contribute local produce to the nearby farmers market.
We were asked to build a website for the golf course and create a suite of images to exhibit the beauty of the whole site and it’s 9 signature holes. Given the breadth of the course and the stunning surrounding countryside, we opted to use drone photography to capture Gillyflower in all it’s glory.

Website design.
Built as a set of distinct pages within the already existing Gillyflower farm website, user experience was a key concern when developing the golf pages. Ease of use was forefront when planning the site layout to ensure a frustration free experience for the expected slightly older golf demographic. With this in mind, all the golf content was placed on a single page with anchor links in a secondary navigation bar allowing information to be found and accessed hassle-free. The golf pages also feature a custom golf logo and custom golf footer, and a book now button in the primary navigation only visible when browsing the golf pages.
